Burgundy
Camille Thiriet is part of a new generation of Burgundy domaines focused on small-scale production, artisanal winemaking and precise vineyard work. Based in Corgoloin in the Côte de Nuits, the domaine was founded in 2016 by Camille Thiriet and Matt Chittick and now farms around six hectares across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
Today, the domaine produces a range of parcel-based wines including Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Blanc, Bourgogne Rouge, Côte de Nuits-Villages Blanc and Côte de Nuits-Villages Rouge. Rather than chasing famous appellations, Camille focuses on overlooked terroirs that can deliver remarkable wines when farmed with precision and care.
The result is a collection of wines that consistently impress for their purity, finesse and energy. Still relatively under the radar, Domaine Camille Thiriet is increasingly regarded as one of Burgundy's most exciting emerging estates - a genuine opportunity for collectors seeking terroir-driven wines before wider recognition arrives.
The vineyard work follows athoughtful, hands-on philosophy centred on respect for the soil and long-term sustainability. Certain parcels are ploughed by horse, cover crops are planted between the rows to encourage biodiversity and synthetic treatments are avoided wherever possible.
Camille and Matt deliberately avoid rigid classifications such as organic, biodynamic or natural wine, favouring instead a pragmatic and observation-driven approach guided by balance, adaptability and precision.
In the cellar, everything iscarried out manually and with minimal intervention. Vinifications favour infusion over extraction, with gentle pump-overs, limited punch-downs and careful grape sorting throughout harvest. Whole-cluster fermentation may be used depending on the vintage and the balance of the fruit. Fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts and élevage remains restrained in order to preserve the texture and clarity of each wine.
After several years of experience in both winemaking and wine distribution, Canadian cellar master Matt Chittick and Burgundy-based Camille Thiriet decided to build their own domaine from the ground up in the Côte de Nuits. The two first met at Domaine de Bellene, where Matt served as cellar master between 2011 and 2014 while Camille oversaw sales. Their years working in Burgundy allowed them to develop strong relationships with growers across the Côte-d'Or.Rather than pursuing scale or prestige appellations, Camille and Matt chose a more discreet and hands-on approach, focused on overlooked terroirs and small-scale craftsmanship.
